Maintenance : adjust a derailleur tightness

03-01-23 | Simon

Adjusting the derailleur cable tightness is a simple process that can be done with a few basic tools.

First, you will need to locate the cable anchor bolt, which is usually located near the derailleur.

Once you have located the anchor bolt, loosen it with a hex wrench. Next, use a pair of pliers to pull the cable tight.

Once the cable is tight, use the hex wrench to tighten the anchor bolt.

Finally, use a screwdriver to adjust the barrel adjuster, which is located near the derailleur. This will allow you to fine-tune the cable tension. Once you have adjusted the cable tension, test the shifting performance of the bike to make sure it is working properly.
