The Eddy Merckx Corsa Extra is a well-known and highly regarded bike, and this particular example is painted in the classic Telekom colors. The Telekom team used both the Merckx Corsa Extra and MXL frames from 1991 to 1995, achieving success in both classic and grand tour events. The team's success peaked with the signing of young East German sprinter Erik Zabel. The pink, grey, and white colors on this bike are perfectly executed, and the paintwork is of superb quality. This bike dates back to 1992-1993 and has a few minor marks, such as a couple of paint chips on the near side stay and a few on the bottom of the drive side forks. There is also a classic brake adjuster chip and a couple of tiny marks on the top tube, but overall, it is in excellent condition and would satisfy even the most critical of eyes. There are no dents, and the Columbus SLX frame offers both comfort and responsiveness. The bike is equipped with a lovely San Marco Rolls saddle and fresh BBB bike ribbon, making the contact points just right. The classic Merckx engraving can be found on the fork crown, seat stay top eyes, rear brake bridge, and chromed dropouts. The drive side chain stay chrome is particularly impressive, as are the fork ends up front. The bike also features a Campagnolo Athena seat post secured with a classic Campagnolo seat binder bolt. However, there are a few insertion marks on the seat post, but these will not be visible when the bike is assembled.The Campagnolo Veloce groupset on this bike is one of the cleanest I have seen. It includes the classic Monoplaner brake calipers and a lovely set of Campagnolo Veloce Ergo levers. All adjusters are free, and the bike rides fantastically, with what appear to be recent cables. The Campagnolo Atlanta 96 wheels are straight and true, laced with wonderful Veloce hubs. When these wheels are spinning freely, you can really pick up some speed. In summary, this bike is a beautiful example and will make the new owner very happy.
