Bike brand: Huffy
This is a rare HUFFY 7-ELEVEN team bike from 1988, custom built to match Andy Hampsten's specifications for the Giro d'Italia, which he won. The frameset was built by John Slawta and is a Land Shark, just like Andy's, unlike the rest of the team bikes which were Serotta. There are noticeable differences between this frame and the regular team frames, such as internal rear brake cabling, different lugs, and rear dropout adjusters that did not snap (unlike the rest of the team bikes, which is why Andy had them custom made).
This bike has been lovingly refurbished with all the parts that Andy would have had on his 1988 Giro winning bike, famously ridden over the Gavia in a snowstorm. Where possible, the parts are NOS (New Old Stock) for authenticity. In terms of rarity, this bike is as rare as they come. There is only one on public display at University Cycles in Boulder, CO, which was given to them by Andy. He may have another one, but the rest of the team bikes were Serotta, and even Andy rode the other ones for the rest of the season. This makes the Giro winning bike quite unique.
If you buy it now, you will also receive a team jersey from 1988 (see last photo).
