Trek Bicycle Corporation is an American company that designs, manufactures, and distributes bicycles and cycling-related products. The company was founded in 1976 by Bevil Hogg and Dick Burke in Waterloo, Wisconsin.

Initially, the company began by importing steel road bike frames from Japan and selling them under the Trek name. In 1983, Trek introduced its first mountain bike, the 850, which helped to popularize mountain biking as a sport.

Throughout the 1980s and 1990s, Trek continued to innovate and introduce new technologies, such as the first production carbon fiber frame in 1985 and the first suspension mountain bike in 1990. Trek also became a major player in the professional racing world, sponsoring top-level teams and riders.

In the early 2000s, Trek expanded its product line to include a wide range of bicycles for different types of riding, including road, mountain, triathlon, and urban commuting. The company also acquired the popular mountain bike brand Gary Fisher in 1993.

In recent years, Trek has continued to innovate and introduce new technologies, such as its IsoSpeed decoupler technology for better comfort and control on rough roads. The company is also known for its commitment to sustainability and social responsibility, with initiatives such as its One World, Two Wheels program to promote cycling as a sustainable mode of transportation. Today, Trek is one of the largest bicycle manufacturers in the world and is known for its high-quality products and innovative designs.
