The Saxon 1950 Twin Tube Road Bike is an extremely rare find. This vintage men's road bike boasts a Reynolds 531 steel frame in a stunning purple color. It is equipped with drop handlebars, a 10-speed gear system with a derailleur mechanism, and 27 X 1 1/4 wheels with large flange hubs and Michelin clincher tires. The frame size is 22 inches, but I will confirm this for sure. I purchased this bike a few years ago with the intention of riding it, but my busy life has not allowed me the opportunity.
The metallic purple paint on the frame is in excellent condition, comparable to the quality of Argos Bristol, although I have no proof of this. The chrome is also spotless. The bike features large flange hubs with a flip/flop rear wheel, making it even more unique. It is a highly sought-after model from the 1950s, made in the UK, and has caliper brakes and a down tube shifter.
I have a good friend who also owns this bike, and his is in unbelievable condition. He has been offered over £5000 for it! In the past, I have seen poorly maintained frames sell for £1,000 on this platform. This bike is a true gem and is worth more to collectors than what I am asking for it. It could benefit from some original parts being fitted, and it currently only has one down tube gear changer.
