This Brompton L3 or M3L folding bicycle is a classic, built in 1998 and owned by one mature owner since new. It is in excellent condition for its age, with most of its original parts still intact. The bike has been used for occasional leisure rides and has been stored in a dark garage or shed for the majority of its life. The silver steel parts, such as the wheel spokes and front mudguard stays, are still in good condition without any rust. This is a rare find for a bike of this age, as most have had their original parts replaced over time. The bike also has its original foam saddle, rubber handlebar grips, and Union plastic non-folding pedals with reflectors. It has been upgraded with a Brompton folding pedal, and the wheels, pedals, and front and rear reflectors are all original. The bike also has its original plastic easy trolley wheels and large frame Patents Worldwide decal. The red and black paint finish is still shiny and in excellent condition, with only a few light scratches and marks on the black rear triangle frame. These have been carefully touched up with gloss black paint. The tyres are the original Raleigh Record branded ones with deep tread and no splits or perishing. They have been checked and adjusted, and the bike is in fully functional working order. The caliper brakes work smoothly, and the Sturmey Archer 3-speed hub gear mechanism shifts smoothly between all gears using the thumb shifter. The bike also has its original chain and running gear, which are in excellent condition and have not rusted like most bikes of this era. The Sturmey Archer hub is date stamped October 1997. The only non-original parts are the complete modern black edition rear mudguard set and fittings, a black edition rear reflector bracket, and an unbranded black plastic front mudguard blade using all the original Brompton fittings.
