The Kona EUte Long tail cargo bike is in good condition and has been upgraded from its original low spec. The original SRP was £3,700, but with the upgrades, it is now significantly better and more reliable. The bike was originally fitted with the ‘Gen2’ Performance Line, but has since been replaced with the newer and improved ‘Gen3’. The plastic covers that were originally on the bike are not compatible with the newer Gen3, so they have been removed. However, this is only a cosmetic issue and does not affect the performance of the bike.
One of the major upgrades is the brand new handlebar controller, which is a huge improvement from the low-end screen that was originally included. The bike also features Exposure By USE integrated bike lights that switch on and off with the system. These lights are of MTB spec and provide a powerful upgrade. Another critical upgrade is the integrated dropper seat post, which makes it easier to get on and off the bike when it is loaded up.
The wheels have also been upgraded to 27.5” WTB i25 rims on Hope Hubs, which provide a significant improvement in quality, durability, and reliability. The bike also comes with Schwalbe 2.4” Super-Moto tyres, which are a big upgrade from the smaller 47mm WTB tyres it originally came with. The brakes have been upgraded to Shimano Deore XT 4-piston brakes with 200mm discs, providing a huge improvement in braking power. The drivetrain has also been upgraded to a Sram 11 speed NX.
For an additional £300, the bike also comes with optional Kona Designed Quick Release Pannier Bags. Other upgrades include a new Whyte saddle, new Whyte Lock-On Handlebar Grips, new Whyte Mudguards, and new platform pedals. The bike also has a -1.5° angleset headset fitted, which improves the geometry and stability of the bike's steering.
The bike comes with spare parts as shown in the pictures. It does have some paint chips and wear and tear, as expected from a used bike, but it is a reliable workhorse that can replace your second car.
